Undercover officers bust prostitution ring operating out of Overton Hotel

Lubbock undercover officers arrested three people believed to be part of a prostitution ring operating out of an upscale hotel near Texas Tech University.

Wednesday afternoon, LPD officers who were conducting an undercover operation arrested Megan Norman, 18, and a 16-year-old female who they say were part of a prostitution ring operating out of the Overton Hotel at 2320 Mac Davis Lane.

As part of the investigation, officers responded to on-line ads which led them to a room at the hotel where they found Norman and the juvenile.

Investigating officers also found evidence linking a male, Chance Pringler, 24, to the prostitution operation and he was arrested at 100 Zenith Ave. following a traffic stop.

The juvenile and Norman were charged with Prostitution. Norman was also charged with Compelling Prostitution and Aggravated Promotion of Prostitution.

Pringler was charged with numerous offenses including Compelling Prostitution, Aggravated Promotion of Prostitution, and Resisting Arrest.

Lubbock Police met with hotel management shortly after 1 p.m. asking for the hotel's assistance in the matter.

"We fully cooperated with the LPD officers to make their arrest," said Overton Hotel's general manager Kurt Metcalf.

"As a hotel, we maintain all of our guests' privacy. We were not aware of any unusual behavior or suspicious activity regarding this one room," continued Metcalf. "The Overton Hotel does have 24-hour on-site security and our guests' safety is always our top priority."

Why am I always leaving places right when the action picks up? I was just lamenting the fact that I left my regular status at Gator’s Bayou to move back to BYB Headquarters and now I found out I could have been banging hos in the Overton Hotel? That’s just not fair and it comes right when I was getting over not being involved in The Healing Touch affair. I almost feel like the guy in New York who missed out on the Mega Millions pool at his office.

I guess it goes to show you - you can take Overton out of the ghetto but you can't take the ghetto out of Overton.

P.S. – I would have of course checked ID and went with the girl of age. I would have saved the 16-year-old for my boy Lawrence Taylor.
