How to foil a robber? In Beaumont, start laughing
Associated Press
BEAUMONT — A holdup?
Hilarious.
Police say a Southeast Texas bank teller thwarted an attempted robbery when she read the holdup note and started laughing.
Beaumont police say they’re looking for a man who failed Tuesday in his robbery attempt at a Wells Fargo branch.
Police say a man wearing sunglasses and a hard hat was talking on a cellphone when he walked into the bank and plopped down a note demanding money.
The teller looked at the note and broke into laughter. The man grabbed the note and ran out.
Police say no weapon was shown and no money was stolen. Nobody was hurt.

This teller deserves the Nobel Prize for Awesome. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more awesome burn than reading aloud a demand letter from a bank robber and laughing right in his face. The teller was obviously risking her life doing so which leads me to believe she’s got pretty much nothing more to live for, which is great.
And don’t expect this guy to try this again. Once you’ve been laughed out of a Wells Fargo by a frumpy old teller it’s hard to get your John Dillinger mojo back. Mockery should be used as a deterrent for all negative behavior. Just ask Will Ferrell.
