Prospective Bulldogs Bite the Hand That Feeds Them

With potential recruitment scandals simmering at Auburn and Ohio State it seems like almost every school is sweetening the deal for recruits. It’s gotten so bad that recruits may not be willing to wait for the handout. In Georgia when the palms aren’t greased immediately high school players’ hands have gotten sticky.

Carver-Columbus recruits Deion Bonner and Marquise Hawkins were arrested last weekend by University of Georgia police for stealing a bunch of iPods and iPhones from Georgia’s football locker room during an open house event.

UGA police wouldn’t say exactly how they found the culprits but hinted Facebook played a part which leads me to believe that it wasn’t enough to disrespect the same locker room Herschel Walker used to patrol the players also needed to brag about looting their prospective teammates’ lockers.

I was a bit surprised that Mark Richt didn’t step in here. Bonner is one of the top players in the state and the Bulldogs could certainly use an infusion of talent, especially if Richt wants to keep his job. I suppose we should admire Richt for protecting his current players instead of whoring his school out to recruits. I’m pretty sure if that was Lane Kiffin he would have given Bonner and Hawkins their pick of the trophy case too.

Honestly though, how can these players be so selfish after the school is as welcoming as this?

P.S. – These kids have got to stop making these videos. There’s like 100 of these.
