The top trending topic today is Alyson Hannigan (aka Lily from ‘How I Met Your Mother’). Hanningan is making news today because she has agreed to rejoin the cast of the ‘American Pie’ franchise for another sequel to the 1999 high school comedy.
I guess with her TV success on HIMYM Hanningan has to be considered the major get for this movie, which is supposed to chronicle the class of ‘99’s ten year reunion (despite the fact that it’s been 12 years since they graduated). She's definitely more of a prize than Eugene Levy who would shoot himself out of a cannon into a cactus patch if the producers asked him to. Seriously, what sorcery does this movie franchise have over him?
I wasn’t able to find whether the missing cast members from ‘American Wedding’ (Chris Klein, Mena Suvari and Shannon Elizabeth) would find their way back but Tara Reid has signed on. Maybe she’s trying to make up for promising that Lebowski sequel that is never going to happen.
Anywho, back to the original topic of Alyson Hannigan. Who would have thought after the first two Pie movies that the band geek would be the tough one to convince to do a sequel? That cast’s success in the past 10 years make the ‘Friends’ cast look like Hollywood royalty.
