Mickelson became a pastry sensation after winning the Masters last year when he stopped by Krispy Kream in Augusta for a few bear claws and a dozen glazed shortly after slipping into his green jacket (which he immediately had to have let out).
The three-time Masters champ of course did not repeat as champion this year largely (or in no way) in part to a psych out from Krispy Kream. As Mickelson pulled his Ford SUV into Augusta last week he got to see his smiling mug on a billboard with a photo of his drive thru appearance at the doughnut hut. Lefty was surprisingly unhappy about his likeness being used without permission and made sure the billboard and every other unflattering photo was destroyed before the week was over.
I sympathize with Phil on this one. His camp may say he was upset about Krispy Kream using his photo without permission but I’m betting he’s really more upset there’s an unflattering photo of him fatting it up right after a tourney. When you’ve got every sports blogger, fan and jokester talking about your man tits a photo like this doesn’t do much for your self-esteem.
