Marlee Matlin: APPALLING that six-year-old is patted down with rationale "children have been used to carry bombs"

In case you’re unfamiliar with the situation Marlee is referring to the frisking of a 6-year-old at a New Orleans airport.

A Kentucky couple was returning home from a vacation and from what it appears in the video the family was subjected to a standard pat down and the six-year-old wasn’t left out of the mix. You can see the video below.

I may be in a shockingly tiny minority here but as long as the TSA is doing this out there in front of God and everyone I have no problem with their methods. The truth of the matter is that air travel is risky and the TSA has to do what it feels necessary. True, 99.99999% percent of the time a six-year-old from Tennessee isn’t going to be carrying a bomb but extremism doesn’t necessarily have a face in this country anymore and with the awful headlines I read every day people aren’t afraid to use their kids. It is a gross invasion of privacy but if you can’t stomach it then just drive instead.

By the way the family was saying it was upsetting because kids are told that adults shouldn’t touch them in sensitive areas. Could they not just explain to the kid that the airport lady in the blue shirt is an exception as long as Mommy and Daddy are standing directly beside you?

In all honesty I’d probably be a bit miffed too at first if it was my kid but I think I’d let it blow over pretty quick. It’s the price of doing plane business.
