Tattoo Artist Hung Out To Dry by 'Hangover'
I’m sure most of y’all have seen the trailer for the ‘The Hangover 2’ (including the one that was too racy for theatres) and it appears that one of the mishaps in this installment of the drunken journey involves Ed Helms getting a Mike Tyson style face tattoo. Sounds like a hoot.
But one guy who isn’t laughing is S. Victor Whitmill, the creator of Tyson’s signature face stamp. Whitmill contends that he owns all the rights regarding the tattoo style and that Warner Bros. and Todd Phillips owe him some coin for having Helms rock the Tyson tat.
I’m not sure exactly how this is going to play out but if I were a betting man I would think that you can’t trademark tattoos. It’s just another case of a frivolous lawsuit.
P.S. – I’m really hoping the second Hangover movie won’t be a huge, disappointing failure. I’m already a little bit on edge about it since the Wolfpack scene from the original Hangover failed to inspire the Lakers to a Game 1 win against the Mavs.
Phil Jackson showed the scene to the Lakers before the game and then the whole team must have pounded Jager because they looked drunk on offense. Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum were not the three best friends that Kobe could have had in that one.
