Ride ‘Em Homeboy!

Ochocinco couldn’t make it ocho segundos.

Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnso (aka Ochocinco, aka Hachi-Go) continued on his mission of eyebrow raising stunts Saturday by riding a bull at a PBR event in Deluth, GA.

Johnson officially lasted 1.5 seconds on the bull but if you’ve seen the video he was basically falling off before the ride ever started.

This should be nothing new. If you heard an athlete was going to risk his well-being by riding a bull and had to guess who it was you’d guess Ochocinco. But #85’s newest PR stunt was different for one reason – he could have gotten seriously hurt.

Forget what that means for his livelihood. He’s made a lot of money in his NFL career and with the lockout impending and the Bengals tabbing Georgia’s A.J. Green to take his spot, it might not matter what he does off the field anymore. What I don’t understand is why an unskilled amateur would take a chance of getting stomped on by a pissed off 1,500 lb. animal.

FOX Sports Steve Eubanks wrote in his recap of Mr. Johnson’s wild ride that a PBR bull rider is injured once every 15 times the chute is opened, seven percent of those injuries requiring an emergency room visit.

Guys that rodeo professionally build up to bull riding. It’s not something you just jump into as former Odessa College bull rider Ty Murray tried to tell Johnson. Inevitably Murray lost his war of reason to Johnson’s craziness. Ask Marvin Lewis and Carson Palmer – that’s a war you can’t win.
"This was an unbelievably monumental task," Murray said. "Take the highest level of something, no matter what it is you start out with baby steps. (Chad) started out as high as you can go. You might teach ski schools all day long where you teach somebody to snowplow and then to do side to side. I was faced with a guy wanting to jump out of a helicopter on top of the Alps."

Murray probably shouldn't have mentioned the helicopter jump onto the Alps because that could give Johnson an idea for his next move.

If there's one positive note to this story its that Johnson’s antics could inspire other annoying athletes to take the plunge into high risk behavior. We could see T.O. base jump off the Empire State Building. Here’s hoping he hits something sharp.
