Just when I thought things couldn’t be better in Laker Land we all have been reminded by E! that we’re getting closer to the debut of “Khloe and Lamar,” the newest in Kardashian home entertainment.
This show couldn’t come at a worse time as it gives opposing fans more to chastise the Lakers about. As if the Kobe rape jabs and hatred Ron Artest elicits weren’t enough now the Lakers have a reality TV star on the team. But maybe I’m being to rash.
Is it possible that I was wrong about this whole Khloe and Lamar thing? When they got married a couple years ago and the Kardashians were at the peak of their unruly public behavior I was sure this would be the straw that broke Lamar’s back. But two years in and the Candy Man is a shoo in for NBA Sixth Man of the Year and helping pace a Laker surge late this season.
It seems Khloe has done something that Kobe never could – get Lamar focused and that gives Kobe more time to babysit Ron Artest and agitate Pau Gasol to be assertive.
In fact Lamar said as much about his relationship with Khloe to Lakers.com writer Mike Trudell:
"Once I became married and started to do things a little differently and take more responsibility in life, it made playing basketball so easy," Odom reflected. "Right now, there isn't anything that's distracting me from the game, and a lot of that is because of the love that my wife has for me. There aren't any stresses."
"You know how things can just line up in life?" asked Odom. "I met Khloe at the perfect time. The stability she and her family bring me is why I'm at peace. I think I have gotten to a new point as a man, as a father, as a basketball player." .
Hey, she may not be an international super hottie like J.J. Barea’s girl but if she makes L.O. better then she’s fine by me.
