MTVeen Wolf
‘TEEN WOLF’ SERIES ON MTV CAN’T BE STOPPED
Back in June, MTV announced that it was looking to develop a series based on Teen Wolf, the 1985 movie in which Michael J. Fox becomes popular by turning into a monster. At the time, execs essentially said that they’d make it more like Twilight, so the news that this is getting a pilot is a great development for virgin goth teens who prefer werewolves to vampires.
The MTV version will be set in high school, draw from the horror genre to explore werewolf mythology and include a romantic plot line.
“It has a fresh take and is very different from the original,” said Liz Gateley, senior vp MTV series development. “It has more of an ‘American Werewolf in Paris’ feel to it. It’s a dramatic thriller with two best friends in the center who provide a great comedy element: They are two very relatable characters on the outer circles of popular cliques.”
There’s a monster — but he’s relatable. It’s a dramatic thriller — but totally funny! It’s like a buddy story — but with a separate romantic plot line! It explores werewolf mythology — but in a totally fresh way!
“So you want a realistic down-to-earth show that’s completely off the wall and swarming with magic robots?
Let me great this straight. The werewolf from that awful horror movie is more relatable than Scott Howard? BS! By the way, I'm not too excited about this series. There's no greater way to sully the name of Teen Wolf than to bring in MTV. The only way this idea is acceptable is if Styles gets to reprise his role. I want to see him as a washout who works at that old man's liquor store and sells beer to kids.
