Clark's Top 25

Okay, kiddos. Let's crank out the new Top 25 real quick. I don't have much time. The theatre won't hold up 'The Informant' just so I can get the BYB done.

1. Florida (1) - The Gators certainly didn't take Tennessee to task like we thought they would, but it was a solid win nonetheless. Also, did anyone see Tebow's screaming fit at his offense on the sideline? Mad Boy, why you so mad

2. Texas (2)
- The Longhorns were also expected to spank their opponent because of some revenge factor. I wondered openly before the game if all the Horns really cared about revenge as much as their QB. I guess not.
3. Alabama (4) - Alabama continued their impressive run with a 53-7 pasting of North Texas. Riley Dodge sat out the game for the Mean Green and the Crimson Tide was all that was mean.
4. Penn State (5) - The Nittany Lions beat up on Temple 31-6 and my fantasy RB Evan Royster rumbled for 134 yards and a TD. By the way, I'm kicking ass in fantasy this year. Next up: a revenge game vs. Iowa.
5. California (8) - The Golden Bears continue to impress behind the strong play of RB Jahvid Best. Cal struggled for a while with Minnesota, but Best's 5 TDs were enough to tally a win.
6. LSU (7) - The Tigers didn't throttle Louisiana Lafayette with a 31-3 win, but they got out with a win against the Ragin' Cajuns which is more than Kansas State can say. Nebraska has to play Lafayette this week and I hope they bounce back.
7. Ole Miss (9) - Ole Miss has certainly stayed off the radar since an early bad game against Memphis. This week the Rebels crushed SE Louisiana 52-6. This week Ole Miss will be back in the spotlight in a Thursday game against the Gamecocks.
8. Boise State (10) - The Broncos had a shootout with Fresno State, winning 51-34. This is probably Boise's last real test of the season and now we have to wait and see how the Broncs may figure into the BCS.
9. Virginia Tech (11) - I didn't come away from Saturday's game impressed by V-Tech's ability, but I was impressed with the team's resillience. The post-game praise for Tyrod Taylor was a bit much though. He looked awful for 59 minutes and good for 1.
10. Oklahoma (13) - The Sooners look to be back in the saddle with a 45-0 win against Tulsa. The Golden Hurricane usually has a dangerous offense so I'm pretty sure OU is trying to send the message that its back.
11. Miami (18) - The Canes had their most impressive performance of the season with a thorough 33-17 dismantling of ACC favorite Georgia Tech. Jacory Harris looks like an All-ACC QB right now.
12. USC (3) - Maybe the Trojans have this out of their system now, but losing this early in the season may lead to USC having a second hiccup, which happened a few years ago.
13. Ohio State (14) - The Buckeyes bounced back strong against Toledo with a 38-0 win. Many thought the Bucks would struggle but Terrelle Pryor had 262 yards and 3 TDs passing and 110 yards and 1 TD rushing.
14. Oklahoma State (15) - The Cowboys didn't fall victim to a second team from Houston with a 41-24 win against Rice.
15. North Carolina (16) - The Tarheels had a 31-17 win against East Carolina on 'Talk Like A Pirate Day.' After the game Skip Holtz said to his AD, "arrrrrr you going to fire me?"
16. Cincinatti (17) - The Bearcats scored a solid 28-18 win against Oregon State in one of the few games that featured two ranked teams.
17. Florida State (21) - A nice 54-28 win against BYU that the Seminoles really needed to quiet the critics and get back into the ACC title picture.
18. BYU (6) - I wasn't sure how far I should drop the Cougars because I was never really sold on them to begin with. But they still beat Oklahoma so they stay in the Top 20.
19. Georgia Tech (12) - The Yellow Jackets looked hapless against Miami but the Canes are hot right now. I think Georgia Tech will bounce back and have a decent season. But up next: North Carolina.
20. Michigan (22) - The Wolverines struggled for a while with Eastern Michigan before crushing them 45-17. Michigan now gets Indiana before a grudge match against MSU.
21. Kansas (23) - The Jayhawks continue to chug along after a 44-16 throttling of Duke. After Nebraska's debacle Saturday, Kansas is now the undisputed toast of the North.
22. TCU (NR) - The Horned Frogs are still undefeated after a 56-21 pasting of Texas State. Now they play Clemson in what should be a good game.
23. Houston (25) - The Cougars took a week off last week. Well played. Up next: The Red Raiders.
24. Georgia (24) - The Dawgs had a dogfight with Arkansas winning 52-41. Who said the SEC plays defense?
25. Washington (NR) - I really wanted to keep Nebraska in my Top 25 but it would have either meant dropping a team out from last week or not putting Washington in after its 16-13 win against USC. I couldn't do it.

  1. I think if the Canes can somehow win @ Va Tech you have to move them to No. 4, even if 5-10 all win. Thoughts?

  2. Quite possibly. I think they have to win convincingly because V-Tech's offense sucks. I'm almost 95% sure Miami wins that game.
