They're Playing Football

It looks as if the ever popular bye week is going to screw us all this Saturday. Most of the big time college powers and Big 12 teams are going to take a week off before conference play starts. We aren't completely out of luck as we still have OU vs. Miami, but after the Canes loss to V-Tech its much less compelling.

Oklahoma at Miami

Since losing to BYU, Oklahoma has been throttling opponents and looking just as intimidating as ever. Sam Bradford could see the field in this matchup, but even with Landry Jones at QB, the Sooners still stand a good chance at winning. Miami won't have to worry about quarterback mobility or over-agressive play so I think this could be a barn burner. I'm leaning toward Oklahoma, but I doubt I'll decide for sure until Saturday morning.

Michigan at Michigan State
Most of Michigan's wins have failed to inspire, but you have to love their determination after starting the season with so many questions. Michigan State has been almost the opposite. After starting the season with high aspirations, the Spartans have dropped three close games. I think this may be the game Mark Dantonio gets Sparty back on track.

Washington at Notre Dame

Notre Dame's offense has continued to impress as injured QB Jimmy Clausen returned late in the Purdue game to throw a game winning TD. Washington is better under Steve Sarkisian, but expect the Irish offense to continue its prolific streak.

USC at Cal
This game had the makings of the Pac 10 Game of the Year before Cal's loss to Oregon. I still think this will be a great game, but I think its also the kind of game that USC has no trouble getting motivated to play. I've got USC in a close one.

LSU at Georgia
LSU has been one of the most consistent teams in the SEC and is 4-0 despite a close call with Mississippi State. The Bulldogs offense has started to come around under QB Joe Cox. This should be a great game and I think the Dawgs will probably give LSU its first loss of the season. We all know what Willie says, 'if you play the Georgia Bulldogs, you gonna feel a bulldog bite!'
