Clark's Top 25

So I figured I would run through my Top 25 real quick before this weekend's games. Don't expect me to go into as much detail as Stewart Mandel though. My schedule is demanding. I have to go see Halloween 2 this afternoon.

1. Florida - Tebow looked good and the RBs performed, despite a lackluster performance by backup QB John Brantley.
2. Texas - My fantasy QB and Heisman favorite Colt McCoy wrecked shop. Tech is going to hae a spanking coming in 2 weeks.
3. Alabama - Bama looked great against V-Tech, racking up 300+ yards against the premier defense in the ACC.
4. USC - Matt Barkley had no trouble rocking the first cupcake on the schedule. Now, can he survive the Horseshoe?
5. Oklahoma State - Oneof the few games I called last weekend. The Cowboys defense took majoy steps toward respectability against UGA. Solid win.
6. Penn State - My preseason pick for Big Ten champ looked good in its first game.
7. BYU - If the Cougars can win against Florida State and win out the rest of the year the Mountain West will have a serious argument for an automatic BCS bid.
8. LSU - The Tigers looked shaky in the first 3 quarters against Washington but chalk that up to an excited crowd in Husky Stadium. LSU looked great in the 4th.
9. Ohio State - A subpar start for the Buckeyes against Navy but its hard to prepare for the triple option. If the Bucks win this week all will be forgotten.
10. California - A convincing win against Ralph Friedgen's deflated fuda. Jahvid Best looks just as good as advertised.
11. Ole Miss - A very slow start for the Rebels against Memphis before Jevan Snead turned it on. The Rebels can't afford a start like that once SEC play starts.
12. Boise State - Oregon probably came in a little overrated but you can't fault the Broncos for a solid win.
13. Georgia Tech - Jonathan Dwyer scored a TD the first time he touched the ball. He's a special player.
14. Virginia Tech - You can't fault V-Tech too much for a loss to Bama, but the D gave up way too much to an SEC school.
15. Oklahoma - The Sooners are still a good team but losing Gresham for the year is huge. Breaking in new WRs is hard enough but doing it without a safety valve at TE and a gimpy QB is harder.
16. North Carolina - The Tarheels got off to a decent start, scoring one of the few wins for the ACC last week.
17. Cincinnati - That was an unbelievable spanking the Bearcats put on Rutgers Monday. If Greg Schiano keeps that up he'll be working at Papa John's instead of coaching in Papa John's Stadium.
18. Utah - The Utes followed an undefeated 2008 with a good win against Utah State.
19. Miami - The Canes looked resurgent against Florida State. Jacory Harris made mistakes but he also helped lead his team to a much needed win. Graig Cooper is greased lightning.
20. Tennessee - A little high maybe but after a 100+ yard performance by Bryce Brown, I'm smelling what Lane Kiffin is cooking.
21. Nebraska - The Huskers looked sharp on both sides of the ball. Roy Helu averaged 11+ yards per carry and the Blackshirts held Florida Atlantic to 3 points.
22. Florida State - I had FSU in my Top 15 preseason and I can't drop them too much after an unbelievable performance against Miami.
23. Notre Dame - I didn't expect to be surprised by ND this early but I was. Jimmy Clausen had touch on his balls (hee hee) and the WRs (Tate and Floyd) looked dynamic.
24. Oregon State - The Beavers didn't do anything to impressive against Portland State but James Rogers played well for my fantasy team.
25. Missouri - It kills me to put the Tigers is my top 25 but you can't deny their solid win against Illinois. I think Ron Zook should have been fired yesterday.

  1. What the hell? I know you hate Kansas, but Tennessee jumping that far up is laughable. Get off Lane's stick and make better life decisions.

  2. Fire Ron Zook? You're nuts. What they need to do is HIRE a play caller and just let Zook recruit.
