The Top 5
I couldn't really catch a vibe on how the first week of the Top 5 went but I figured I should keep it going. Noone has complained openly yet anyway.
This week's topic is something I've put a little more thought into: serial killers. I'm sort of a serial killer buff. I watch all those documentaries and docu-dramas about them and I think I've got a good grasp on how to rate them.
As a precursor let me say I don't admire serial killers. I'm not going to start visiting these guys in jail or sending them naked pictures. I'm just sort of intrigued by the whole thing.
As for who I didn't pick, here's a short list: the Night Stalker, the Hillside Stangler, Son of Sam, John Wayne Gacy, BTK, Jeffrey Dahmer, Henry Lee Lucas & Otis Toole, Lake & Ng and others. There's a pretty good reason against any of these guys. Most were reckless, stupid and lucky they didn't kill in the DNA era or they would have been caught sooner. Plus the numbers ae inflated on many of them.
Now for the Top 5
#5 - The Zodiac
Zodiac was a gun killer so his crimes don't really cross into the gruesome category and he didn't kill many people but he did taunt the citizens/police of his killing area and, more importantly, he never got caught. Speculation over the identity of the Zodiac runs rampant to this day with the most likely suspect being Arthur Leigh Allen who died in 1992. If you haven't seen the Zodiac movie with Jake Gyllenhall, check it out.
