Oh brother!
Ohio family feud leads to duelling candy stores
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
GRANVILLE, Ohio - Brothers from a candy-making family in Ohio are opening shops 30 metres apart in what the owner of a business in between calls "the Battle of the Bonbons."
The feud began last year when their mother put George Goumas - the eldest brother - in charge of Goumas Candyland.
In December, police were called.
Socrates and Greg Goumas - the two brothers who had run the business for years - were ordered to leave one of the family's stores.
Socrates and Greg plan to open their own shop in Granville, where George has also decided to open a store.
Socrates calls it a copycat move, while George says their father always wanted a location in Granville, about 50 kilometres northeast of Columbus.
I love family feuds, especially brother feuds. Maybe its because I've been a part of so many. Plus this story has the awesome name element stemming from brother Socrates. How much of a pompous ass do you have to be to name your kid Socrates? That said I'm betting that George runs Goumas Candyland into the ground and Socrates is left to reap the dividends. Seriously, in this economy is there really enough scrilla left to have dueling candy stores?
I say Socrates shoots the big gun off first and replaces Geroge's first shipment with just candy corn and cottage cheese. Game, set, match.
