Pastor in South Carolina Delivers Sermon on LeBron — Yes, That's Where We Are Now

LeBron mania has invaded not just sports coverage, regular news coverage, casual conversations with your grandma, and the thoughts and actions of civic leaders across the country — it has officially invaded the sanctified walls of churches in South Carolina. There is apparently no end or limit to the Jamesian hysteria.
Here's video of Reverend Christopher Benek giving a 19-minute sermon intertwining the Chosen One (Jesus) with the Other Chosen One (LeBron). Benek, who's a pastor at Providence Presbyterian Church in Hilton Head, SC, wants LeBron to play for $1 next year.
Finally, a preacher I agree with. I think its a great idea for Lebron to play for $1 next season. If he takes that kind of pay cut then the Lakers can sign him and the greatest sports dynasty of all-time can ensue. I'm pretty sure that might break some kind of NBA rule about having too high a level of badassness. For once I wish the NBA were more like MLB.
In all seriousness if my preacher gave a sermon comparing Jesus to Lebron James I think that's when I'd have to consider switching churches. I get that preachers want to make their sermons culturally relevant but comparing the son of God to a basketball player is a bit off. Jesus wasn't a bad basketball player but he wasn't half the baller Lebron is. And he couldn't hit a curveball for shit.
