Preseason College Football Top 25 - #25 Oregon
The college football season is less than one month away and as I try to pass the time between watching baseball highlights and soccer celebration dances, I can't wait for the gridiron action to get started. So, if we can't watch football, we're going to talk football. Welcome to the Preseason College Football Top 25 Countdown.
We're going to continue with the #25 team in the nation and thus, the first time unveiled in the countdown.
#25 Oregon Ducks - What? You expected the Ducks a little bit higher? Well, quack you! Sure, Oregon has some talented players returning with speedy running back LaMichael James back to tote the rock and consistent receiver Jeff Maehl returning but with the suspension of LaGarette Blount last season and the release of QB Jeremiah Masoli, its hard to say that Coach Chip Kelly has his thumb on his team. Especially when James himself had an offseason run-in with the fuzz after allegedly roughing up his sweetheart.
The experienced Nate Costa will likely get the keys to the Duckmobile and should fare well enough but with the obvious discipline/morale concerns and the problems the Ducks had stopping the run and holding opponents in 2009, the lofty predictions that some have hurled their way seem nutty.
