Okay, okay so the Brett Favre thing is old news by now but I think I needed a few days to let this fully digest before I jumped back into this story. Now I'm more than willing to admit that Brett has played the drama queen role well before and may be the walking definition of wishy washy. That said, last week's developments were almost in no part his fault.
We're almost sure to never know exactly what transpired last week (because Favre would rather fight a gator than explain his personal life and conversations) but odds are Favre mentioned in passing to some teammate or NFL friend that he was leaning toward retirement. There's absolutely no evidence that this conversation was official, formal or important in any way.
So lets cut down on the criticism of Favre. It was one thing when he had Green Bay handcuffed but Minnesota got into bed with him willingly. It should be no skin off their nose what or when he decides. Instead lets try pointing the finger at where it belongs - ESPN for reporting rumor like its public record.
