Billshit!

Slow out of the gate, Bills trounced by Redskins
By Allen Wilson/News Sports Reporter/Buffalo News

LANDOVER, Md. -- Ugh.

The Buffalo Bills have three more weeks remaining before the regular season begins.

Their fans can only hope things get better by then.

The debut of new head coach Chan Gailey was a colossal flop as negative plays on both sides of the ball resulted in the Bills being trounced by the Washington Redskins, 42-17, in a forgettable preseason opener at FedEx Field.

It must be said that one should not take too much stock in the summer's first exhibition. Teams go out of their way not to show very much and it takes time to work out the kinks.

But it's doubtful Gailey envisioned his team playing as poorly as it did.

"We made too many mistakes to be a quality football team," he said. "If you make that many mistakes, you give up that many big plays, turn the ball over, penalties at crucial times, you will not be a quality football team. And that's my job to make sure that we become that kind of football team that avoids those kind of bad plays that turn games around."

The Bills were looking to atone for last year's awful preseason by their offensive starters, who failed to score a touchdown in 15 possessions. But they picked up right where they left off, unable to find the end zone on four drives.

If that weren't bad enough, the Bills also lost running backs Fred Jackson (hand) and Marshawn Lynch (ankle) to injuries early in the game.

I hope Chan Gailey wasn't trying to insinuate that the only thing standing in the Bills way of being a quality football team because even if the Bills are helped by divine intervention and manage to win two games in a row, they'll still suck. That being because they don't have any talent, leadership or competent management. What other team would cut their best defensive player and let him sign with the Patriots instead of trading him. I guess the lone bright spot is that Lynch and Jackson's injuries open the door for C.J. Spiller. But as I told one guy last night while I was wearing my brand new Spiller t-shirt. "Sure, I love him now but in three years he and the Bills will have a contentious relationship and I'll hate him just like I've hated the last three running backs to play there." Because there's just no winning when it comes to being a Bills fan. It's just the same old Billshit!
