Hide Hitler

Parents lose custody of son Adolf Hitler
By QMI Agency

Parents who have given their kids Nazi-inspired names — including naming one little boy Adolf Hitler — have lost custody of their three children.

Heath and Deborah Campbell's children were taken out of their home in Phillipsburg, N.J., in January after the family tried to get a birthday cake with their son's name on it at a local ShopRite.

The youngest child, a baby, is named Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie, named after Heinrich Luitpold Himmler, a Nazi politician. A second daughter is named JoyceLynn Aryan Nation — Aryan Nations is a white nationalist neo-Nazi organization. All three have been in foster care.

On Thursday, an appeals court said there was evidence of abuse in the home, Fox News reported.

Despite a gag order, the parents spoke to Fox News, saying they don't think it's right.

"We have a right to have our kids named. A name's a name," Heath said in the interview. "Our kids are beautiful kids, they're not going to grow up to hate people, they're not going to grow up to hurt people."

These kind of issues seem to be multi layered. Should parents have a right to name their children whatever they want? I'm all for personal freedom but should an innocent kid have to deal with the inevitable backlash he'll face all because his parents are ignorant and gave him a name that evokes thoughts or intolerance at the best and genocide at the worst? And its pretty obvious that as soon as this kid starts school he's going to get his ass whipped (especially if he still has that haircut when he shows up). I guess I have to take the New Jersey Department of Child Services at their word when they say there was evidence of abuse because while NJ officials aren't the greatest people at least they're not Neo Nazis.

And what's with the quote by the dad who said his kids aren't going to grow up to hate people. No, you named them after Nazis so they'd grow up tolerant. The only way I'm buying his story is if he's planning on splitting on the kids soon and he's just going the 'Boy Named Sue' route.
