I'm not impressed
Teen scores perfect attendance for 13 years
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — It’s been a long 13 years for Brittani McCalister — 2,340 days, to be exact.
The Indiana teenager graduated from high school Sunday having never missed a day of school since kindergarten.
She stood and was recognized for her sterling attendance record by classmates and their families during commencement at West Vigo High School in Terre Haute.
Principal Tom Balitewicz says “Every day, she has made it to school and stayed the entire day.”
Conceding it was tough at times, McCalister says she would go to school sick, and “loaded up on Tylenol.”
You know nothing gets me more riled up than reading these stories about kids being lauded for going to school everyday, especially not that I have to drag myself into a job 8 hours a day where I bide my time until I cease to exist. School is easy. True, kids can be cruel and there can be some obstacles but if I had the chance to trade places with some kid 'Freaky Friday' style I'd do it in a heartbeat.
Plus, my brother's best friend got the same honor. 13 years - no missed days and he was no Honor student. It was actually kind of funny because he got to be on the stage with the valedectorian during OHS graduation. All for showing up everyday.
