College Football Wrap Up
I'm going to make this one pretty short and sweet. There weren't a whole lot of games last weekend and with 5 hours of coverage on ESPN Sunday, I'm pretty sure everyone is stocked up on their championship week analysis. But here are a few thoughts.
It's a curse being right most of the time and last week was a great example. Everyone laughed a few weeks ago when I seriously predicted an Alabama vs. TCU national championship game. But we came a second away from it. I've been saying all season that Alabama is the best team in the country.
Though the Crimson Tide did not boast 11 starters back from a national title defense, they returned one of the most disruptive lineman in football Mt. Cody and a band of merry no namers who love to hit. On offense the Tide have an ultra talented tailback in Mark Ingram who probably won himself the Heisman Trophy after a huge game against Florida. But most importantly the Tide have a winner at QB in Greg McElroy who is going to make things happen when he has to.
I thought Florida's attack would be too predictable and it was.
As strong as the Tide look right now I would hate to be the Texas Longhorns. Aside from have to listen to fans and media question the legitimacy of them being in the national title game, they have to play the best team in the nation after being exposed in their last two games. Texas A&M exposed Texas pass defense and Nebraska broke down the Texas love connection between McCoy and Shipley and put Colt on his ass 10 times. McCoy hasn't rolled around the ground so much since he and Shipley's last camping trip.
Speaking of people I'd like to see attacked by a bear, I'm really starting to hate Brian Kelly. Maybe I'm just trying to prepare myself for when he finally puts on the Notre Dame cap but I don't really care for his smug attitude of his passing the buck.
I first got enraged with the guy when he threw his kicker under the bus for missing a 46 yarder going into halftime. He told the sideline reporter that the kicker told him he could make it and should have been honest about not being able to. Maybe I'm wrong but doesn't Cincy pay Kelly more than $1 million so that he makes the tough decisions. Of course the kicker isn't going to pass up the kick. That'd be a like a general telling you he can't win a war. Kelly should have known his player's limitations and made the right choice.
Then the little sack of baby crap gets on the Bowl Selection Show and says "Nebraska's kickoff specialist won't be getting a Christmas card for me." Look, the kickoff out of bounds was bad but how professional is it to blast a 22-year-old kid from someone else's team. Especially when a Nebraska win would have sent TCU to the big game, not Cincy. The Horned Frogs are way ahead of the Bearcats in the BCS poll. So, despite being fed up with the Tebow Love Express, I hope the Chosen One and the Gators put a beating down on Cincy before Kelly shuffles off to South Bend.
Go on with it Mad Boy! Clark out!
