They're Playing Football!

We're back to another week with no matchups between Top 25 teams so this could end up being another waste of time. I've considered going to Lubbock but with an 11:30 a.m. kickoff the chances of us tailgating are slim to none. Alas, let's look at what craptastic games I'll be watching this weekend.

#9 Ohio State at Michigan
The Buckeyes have already sewn up the Big Ten championship but will surely want to get a win to be strong heading into the Rose Bowl. Michigan, meanwhile is rapdily descending into hell and could be making a switch at Head Coach in the offseason. Can Michigan rally to get this win? I think the Wolverines will play well and make this a close game but I can't give Rich Rod the win. And winning this one might be the only way to save his job.

#11 Oregon at Arizona
Oregon was the hottest team in the nation two weeks ago before catching an ass whipping at the hands of the current hottest team, Stanford. Zona has rolled through the season winning some decent games but staying off everyone's radar for the most part. Oregon can see the possibility of holding on for the Pac 10 title and won't slip here. I like the Ducks in a strong win.

#12 LSU at Ole Miss
Mississippi held on last week to beat Tennessee and now sit at 7-3 for the season. The Rebs also get to play LSU at the best possible time with Tiger QB Jordan Jefferson looking gimpy. Jefferson figures to be back for this game but with him hobbled I'm going to take Ole Miss.

#18 Wisconsin at Northwestern
Wisconsin has rebounded this season and looked good in a topsy turvy conference. The Badgers withstood a strong attack from Michigan last week to get to 8-2. But with NW's Pat Fitzgerald getting some attention as a possible candidate for the Notre Dame job I think he will make a name for himself with a big upset this week and the Cats will get the win.

Oklahoma at Texas Tech
Oklahoma picked on Texas A&M last week and got a garbage time touchdown for QB Landry Jones last week so he could have 5 total. Maybe that's supposed to boost his confidence after throwing five picks against Nebraska. Expect Jones to struggle against a very good Tech pass rush this week. I'll take the Raiders in this one but the offense will have to be efficient. Can Barron Batch run the Wildcat???

Kansas State at Nebraska
It all comes down to one game for the Big 12 North between many people's preseason favorite, Nebraska and the ghost of Big 12 North Past, Kansas State. The last time Bo Pelini and Bill Snyder got together an old man got a few feet from going to the hospital as Frank Solich had to pull Pelini's leash after the Wildcats ran up the score. Has Pelini forgotten? I sure as hell haven't. I'll take Nebraska to get the center square and the game and move on to Dallas.
