They're Playing Football!
A better slate of games this week and we creep into conference play. Of course its all highlighted by the Florida vs. LSU game in Baton Rouge. Will Tebow play? I'm sure he will.
Nebraska at Missouri
This week gets kicked off the right way tonight as the Huskers and the Tigers rumble in Columbia. After two decades of complete domination, Nebraska has dropped four of the last six meetings between these two teams, including blowout losses in the last two years. But the Huskers have looked resurgent this season, leading the nation in scoring defense. In fact, Nebraska is one play away from possibly cracking the Top 10.
Missouri, meanwhile, was left for dead after the loss of Chase Daniel, Chase Coffman, Jeremy Maclin and William Moore. Blaine Gabbert has impressed running the Mizzou offense but RB Derrick Washington hasn't played to potential. Expect Nebraska to blitz Gabbert and knock him around. I have Nebraska exposing a weak Mizzou defense and the Big Red keep rolling.
Alabama at Mississippi
Mississippi has looked lackluster all season with a loss to South Carolina and an unimpressive performance against Memphis. Alabama has been on a tear, destroying opponents weekly. This could be a game where Bama slips, but with all the preseason hype around Ole Miss, I think Bama will see the Rebs coming. Bama wins.
Wisconsin at Ohio State
Wisconsin is undefeated and showing signs of life for the first time since its strong finish in '07, but Ohio State has been playing lights out since the loss to USC. If this game were in Camp Randall I might give the Badgers more hope but I think Ohio State keeps rolling here.
Michigan at Iowa
For the moment Iowa looks to be in the drivers seat in the Big Ten. The Hawkeyes are undefeated with a big win against my Big Ten favorite Penn State. But Iowa has been known to falter down the stretch in recent years. In comes a Michigan team that takes each game down to the wire. I'm not sure I like in this game but I knows its going to be really close.
Colorado at Texas
The Buffaloes belong in the discussion of the worst team in the North with K-State and Iowa State. Truly dreadful, they are. I wouldn't be surprised if this one is about 50-0.
Kansas State at Texas Tech
I'm feeling the same kind of result in this game that I feel in the UT/Colorado game. "Sticks" will get his first start at QB for the Raiders against Kansas State. While I imagine he will struggle more than last week, he won't need much to spank the Wildcats. Tech wins big.
Florida at LSU
This is going to be a huge game. At night in Baton Rouge may be the toughest atmosphere in college football. But Florida is a veteran team. The Gators aren't going to be fearful going into Death Valley. If Tebow plays I think Florida is a lock. If not, I still think they have a chance. Urban Meyer just has to call the right game for Brantley to succeed.
