Getting back in game shape
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum's rehab from a torn knee ligament has progressed to small-sided games -- and carrying Playboy playmates on his shoulders.
As Bynum expressed confidence on his Web site this week that he'll return before the end of the season, coach Phil Jackson defended his big man over pictures that have peppered the Internet showing Bynum at the Playboy Mansion last weekend posing with a woman on his shoulders.
"I think there's a lot being made out of that that is unnecessary," Jackson said before Tuesday's game against Charlotte. "This is a young guy. I don't think Andrew is 22 yet, is he? He's a 21-year-old guy. He's been out of basketball 51/2-6 weeks. He's got to have some energy and vent and have some fun. Now I don't know if putting a girl on your shoulders..."
Count me along Phil Jackson as one who doesn't care about Andrew Bynum carrying a girl around at the Playboy Mansion. That's what Lakers are supposed to do. Hell, at that point in the party in 1984 Magic would've had 6 girls naked. So Bynum's knee is hurt, so what? That Playmate weighs all off 108 lbs. soaking wet. I don't think that will aggrevate the knee too much.
Everyone just freaked out because you have haters like SI's Aresh Markazi who drum this swill up because he's jealous a Playmate won't touch him. So, play on Andrew and come back soon! I'm tired of losing to the Charlotte Bobcats!
P.S. I leave you with the fine work of Randy Newman. Best displayed in the fine feature film 'The Naked Gun'
