How Quincy Got His Strempfth Back

Indoor Football League: Carter dominates Roughnecks in season opener
BY JOEL A. ERICKSON/Odessa American

ABILENE Heading into the first game of the season, the Odessa Roughnecks' defense had one goal.

Stop Quincy Carter.

But Carter had other ideas, and a third-quarter scoring burst helped the Abilene Ruff Riders beat Odessa 39-24 at the Taylor County Expo Center.

The Roughnecks held a 13-10 lead late in the first half, but Carter scored on a 9-yard quarterback keeper with three seconds left in the second quarter to put Abilene out in front.

And after Odessa opened the second half with a Zeke Arevalo field goal, Carter tossed three touchdown passes in the third quarter to lead Abilene to a 36-16 lead.

The Ruff Riders never looked back.

Carter completed 18-of-31 passes for 235 yards and four touchdown passes, two caught by Chris Morris and two caught by Jerrad Grisham.

I got really geeked up for indoor football season the other day because I heard Abilene had brought in Jammal Lord. Then low and behold they go and bring in Quincy Carter. You may all remember Quincy from his coked up shenanigans as Dallas Cowboys quarterback. He once gave a classic interview where he said strength about 10 times but much like Karl Malone he pronounces the word 'strempfth'. Glad to see he landed on his feet in the Bible Belt. I am now imploring the Odessa Roughnecks to trade for Jammal Lord.

P.S. - I couldn't find the infamous Strempfth interview so here's a highlight of the Indoor game. Who films these games???
