Jailhouse (Crack) Rock
Utah man asks for more prison time
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
OGDEN, Utah (AP) — A Utah man has chosen to fight heroin addiction by spending more time in jail.
Damon Conrow was sentenced Tuesday on a charge of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance after asking to “plead up” to a first-degree folony. The charge had been a second-degree felony, but Conrow wanted a longer sentence.
Conrow says he’ll soon be happier than he is now because he’ll get off heroin. He says within about eight weeks of going to jail, he expects withdrawal symptoms to ease so he can start having normal sleeping patterns.
The 25-year-old pleaded guilty in December.
Look I admire this guy wanting to get clean from the junk but I'm a little miffed that taxpayers have to pay for his self inflicted rehab. Heaven forbid he pay for that himself. Of course if it means not getting locked up again it may be cheaper in the long run. I think he should have to sign a plea agreement where if he relapses he gets an automatic death penalty.
