Is CBS not into the man love?
A gay dating site called ManCrunch.com wants to get in on the Super Bowl XLIV commercial action, but have been told that oops, too late, no more spots are open, reports the New York Post.
ManCrunch spokesman Dominic Friesen is calling BS: "It's clearly a form of discrimination that we're getting the runaround, that we're not being told the truth. Quite frankly, there is a lot of ad space available -- a lot of the companies that typically advertise during the Super Bowl are not advertising this year."
I've got a real quick answer to the question of whether this ad is Super Bowl worthy - hell no. And not because its for a gay dating site, but because its atroscious. This ad wouldn't be acceptable if it was a man and woman kissing either. The thing looks like a few college film students made it with a hand held camera. I don't even think for one second Mancrunch.com was ever serious about having this ad run in the Super Bowl. Who the hell would pay $2.8 million to air a commercial that cost $500 to make. I'm sure Mancrunch was hoping CBS would say no and then they could drum up some homophobic controversy to get some publicity. Well done but next time put some of the energy into making a better commercial. Truly awful.
P.S. - Wouldn't this thing have been at least 5 percent funnier if the guys were wearing Favre and Rogers jerseys?
P.P.S - This is how you make a Super Bowl commercial.
