You Have the Right To Remain Stupid
Teen accidentally texts sheriff for pot
By QMI Agency
If you're going to text your drug dealer, make sure you've got the correct number.
That's a lesson a teenage boy in Helena, Montana, learned the hard way.
Instead of sending a text message to his dealer, police say he sent one to Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton.
Police said the text read: “Hey Dawg, do you have a $20 I can buy right now?”
Dutton told the Helena Independent Record he thought it was just a joke at first.
“I was looking around to see if there was someone outside my window playing a prank.”
When it seemed clear he'd received an inadvertent text, he decided to play along. He said he told the teen to meet him at a local business.
When police showed up, they found two teens and an older man. Detectives called the teens over and flashed their badges. Police told the Recorder both kids turned white, and one of them fainted.
But in the end, the kids got off with a slap on the wrist. No charges were laid.
“When the detective saw there were parents that wanted to be involved he took the right action and I’m really proud of the deputy,” Dutton said.
“Trying to buy drugs is a crime, but it’s probably worse that they had to face their parents.”
Well that story certainly had a happier ending than I expected. Someone told me about this story the other day and I just assumed the sherrif busted the kid and locked him up. Its nice to see the cops just embarrassed the shit out of them and got them grounded for homecoming. Also, who do you think is going to catch more hell at school. The kid who sent the text or the douche who fainted in front of the cop? It reminds me of the time we got MIPs on Senior Skip Day and one of our friend's voice cracked when he was aswering the cop's question.
