F My Life Moment of the Day
Today, I was life guarding at a community pool and noticed a toddler go under water. I quickly jumped in and suddenly got a charlie horse which caused me to stall. When I looked up, I saw an old woman saving him, and got a shoe thrown at my head. I was fired. FML

COLLEGE FOOTBALL PICKS
We're a day into this college football season and I hope my Thursday afternoon picks didn't land you too far in the poor house. You know what they say - quit while you're ahead? Well, that's for suckers. Here are some weekend picks.
Illinois at Missouri -12
I think the Tigers are going to be a lot better than many think they will. 18 starters return this year for the Tigers. Sure, they lost Derrick Washington this week to suspension and this is a rivalry game of sorts but I'll still take Mizzou by 2 TDs.
Colorado -12 at Colorado State
Its hard to remember this game ever being a blowout so I'm certainly not going to pick one now. Colorado is the better team in this one and the Buffs made the right choice going with Tyler Hansen over the coach's son at QB but I like the Rams to make it close in this one.
UCONN at Michigan -3
Michigan hasn't given us any reason to expect a better team yet and there seems to be lingering tension between the team (namely QB Tate Forcier) and Coach RichRod. That can't be a good thing heading into a matchup with one of the better teams in the Big East. I'll take the Huskies.
Oregon State at TCU -13 1/2
I may be way off base on this one but I've got the Beavers winning the Pac 10 this year and the eventual Pac 10 champ can't be getting beat by a Mountain West team by 2 TDs. I like OSU to keep it close and maybe even get the upset.
SMU at Texas Tech - 13 1/2
I'll take the Tommy Tuberville era to start off with a bang so I've got the Raiders. You've also got to like the Overs in this one at 60 1/2. Tech's defense will need a little more time to improve and SMU can toss the ball around.
Washington State at Oklahoma State -16
I'm thinking OSU takes a major step back this year but it isn't going to start in Week 1. Washington State is the worst BCS team and a trip across country to play a Big 12 squad aint gonna be pretty.
Washington at BYU -2 1/2
These two teams have had some wild showdowns in recent years (ie Jake Lockers "celebration" costing UW the win in '08). I think this year Locker and Co. take a step toward respectablility and win this one by a field goal.
Western Kentucky at Nebraska - 37 1/2
It pains me to against my Huskers but I'm not even sure Nebraska can score 38 points. And if WKU manages to put 7-10 points on the board then there are going to have to either be a ton of turnovers or an offensive awakening at NU. I'll take WKU and the points.

PROTESTERS OR PROTESTANTS???
Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy
You go girls! You take the fight right to the pastor of the church. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone (or in this case, shame the first stripper). The point is that noone should be criticizing the way someone else gets their rocks off (unless its endangering another party). Plus everyone has skeletons in their closet. They'll probably find a bunch of S&M porn and whatnot in the pastor's crawl space when he dies. But I will have to say for the church that they're running a pretty effective protest (posting pictures of patrons and license #'s is crafty). But they need to come up with some better taunts for the dancers. Whore and prostitute don't cut it like they used to.

'We're about to crash,' passengers told in error
By REUTERS
British Airways apologized to passengers after an emergency message warning they were about to crash into the sea was played by mistake.
About 275 passengers were on the London Heathrow to Hong Kong flight on Tuesday evening when the automated message went out. The plane was flying over the North Sea at the time.
Cabin crew quickly realized the error and moved to reassure the terrified passengers.
"We all thought we were going to die," Michelle Lord, 32, of Preston, northern England, told The Sun newspaper.
Another passenger was reported saying: "I can't think of anything worse than being told your plane's about to crash."
A spokesman for British Airways said an investigation was under way to discover whether it was human error or a computer glitch.
Well that has to either be the biggest mistake ever made or the most inappropriate goof ever. It probably wouldn't have bothered me because I would have been jamming my ESPNU College Football podcast but anyone who did hear it must have had a pretty terrible feeling. Plus people can't be held responsible for what they do when they know they're going to die. I'm pretty sure I'd want to grab the first set of boobs I saw. You know, just to go out on a high note. But then when we didn't die that chick would probably want to sue me. Yeah, this airline really effed up.
