Preseason College Football Top 25 Countdown - #2 Boise State

The college football season begins tonight and I can't wait for the gridiron action to get started. So, if we can't watch college football (for a few more hours), we're going to talk football. So let's continue the Preseason College Football Top 25 Countdown with the Top 3.
#2 Boise State Broncos - Let me start by stating that this ranking is in no way a judgment of Boise State's talent level. I don't consider Boise to be the second best team in the country but the reality is that Boise has done well enough in two high profile bowl games that they have captured the eyes, ears and minds of college football voters. The inevitable backlash against the Cinderella team appears to now be in full force but if Boise musters up enough ability to take down Virginia Tech and Oregon State then they will more than likely be playing for the national championship. Its going to take a Heruclean effort to get past Virginia Tech in Landover, Maryland but with the plethora of offensive weapons at Boise's disposal and the inexperience of VT's young defense Boise might just walk away with the win.

The Bronco offense is led by Heisman hopeful Kellen Moore who threw for 3,500+ yards, 39 TDs and only three INTs last season. And his supporting cast aint bad either. The Broncs bring back their top rusher from a year ago Jeremy Avery, their top two receivers (Titus Young and Austin Pettis) and a good offensive line led by Nate Potter. With this group Boise could undoubtedly outscore 10 out of their 12 opponents but the Broncs can also rely on a veteran defensive group led by DE Ryan Winterswyk, DT Billy Winn and defensive backs Jeron Johnson and Winston Venable.

Obviously the schedule is the main reason Boise sits at #2/#3 in the preseason polls. If the Broncs can get past Virginia Tech and Oregon State then they can cake walk the rest of the season the only slight challenges to come at Idaho and at Nevada.
