Driver banned after operating toy car drunk
By QMI Agency
A British man has been banned from driving for three years after police pulled him over while driving a toy Barbie car while drunk.
Paul Hutton, 40, said he regrets the decision to use the toy - which can reach a top speed of 6.4 km/h - to drive to a friend's house after he had been drinking, Britain's Daily Mail newspaper reported.
The six-foot tall father of four admitted he had to be a contortionist to get into the toy and said he felt like a "complete twit."
Hutton told the newspaper he was rebuilding the toy car with his son, who was taking a car mechanics course. On April 4, he decided to take it for a spin to show a friend who lives less than half a kilometre away. Police pulled him over around 9 p.m.
The newspaper reported Essex Police initially gave Hutton a warning, but when Hutton ignored them and slowly pulled away from the officers, they arrested him.
Now this is just a little bit much. It's bad enough that cops are arresting dudes on motorized bar stools, lawnmowers and golf carts but now they feel the need to bust a dude crusing in his kid's power wheel. That guy posed no danger whatsoever to himself or others. I'm not too up on my metirc coversions but that guy is basically going about 4 miles an hour and he probably stayed on the sidewalk too. Cops have to start being able to discern between a serious motor vehicle risk and a drunk goof. Roll On Barbie Mobile. Roll On!
