Down Goes Douchebag! Down Goes Douchebag!

David Arquette Decked in Fan Skirmish at Lakers-Suns Game
By Tom Herrera/Back Yard Fanhouse

All kinds of celebrities flock to the Lakers' playoff games and one of the familiar faces every time is David Arquette, a devoted L.A. fan and star of the upcoming movie "Scream 4" (yes, they're making another one).

Monday night at the Staples Center, Arquette went from rooting for the Lakers to serving as a "peacemaker" while trying to help a security guard who was being trounced by a fan gone wild.

After the Lakers beat the Suns 128-107 in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals, a fan rushed the court and Arquette got caught up in the melee. As the security guard was tussling with the fan, a bunch of courtside seats -- including Arquette's -- were knocked backward into the aisle.

Arquette was stuck on the floor for roughly 30 seconds before managing to squeeze out of the fray. Thankfully, the scary scene didn't escalate to a brawl or something straight out of Arquette's pro wrestling venture in "Ready to Rumble."

Michael Roth, vice president of communications for AEG, which operates the Staples Center, had this to say afterward:

"At the end of the game, a fan came out of the stands and out on to the court. Any time a fan breaches the court, you don't know what their intentions are. We approached him and asked him to leave and when he didn't want to leave, there was some force used ... We are not aware of any injuries."

What a perfect start to the Western Conference Finals. Not only do the Lakers assert their dominance and set up a potential showdown with Boston but David Arquette gets punched in the face too. You may remember Arquette from great films such as 'See Spot Run,' or 'Never Been Kissed.' I haven't seen anything he's been in the last four years (aside for 'Hamlet 2' where he was actually pretty good because he only had about two lines). I guess Hollywood has finally thrown him away. Luckily his wife is still putting food on the table with the delightful new sitcom 'Cougar Town.'
