Get your dong out of my deck

Iconic wienermobile crashes into home

MOUNT PLEASANT, Wisconsin - An iconic Oscar Mayer Wienermobile crashed into a southern Wisconsin home as the driver tried to turn around the giant hot dog on wheels.

The hot dog company's promotional Wienermobile crashed Friday into the deck and garage of a home in Mount Pleasant, about 35 miles (56 kilometres) south of Milwaukee.

The 22-year-old driver was trying to turn the Wienermobile around in the driveway and thought she was moving in reverse, Mount Pleasant Police Chief Tim Zarzecki said. But she instead went forward and hit the home. It sat in the driveway as if it were stuck in the garage Friday afternoon.

Responding officers were not initially told what kind of vehicle was involved.

"It was a little bit of a surprise when they arrived," Zarzecki said.

"So they were, I'm sure, somewhat humoured by the incident but their first response was wanting to make sure everyone was OK," he added.

Since when did operating the Weinermobile become a position that we would entrust to a 22-year-old. When I was growing up Weinermobile driver was a job that meant you had made it. It was like being named the best trucker in the world or something. But considering the way beauty pageants have gone downhill I'm not suprised Oscar Meyer has slipped. It's a sad day in America when Weinermobile driver becomes just another job. Where have our heros gone? That's what I would like to know.
