I hear wedding bells (and aluminum cans)

Couple collects cans to pay for wedding
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

SPOKANE, Wash. — Love for each other and the environment — and creative thriftiness — have prompted a Spokane couple to collect aluminum cans to help pay for their wedding.

Andrea Parrish and Peter Geyer already have more than 18,000 cans in their living room — nearly 5 per cent of their goal of collecting 400,000 of the containers.

The Spokesman-Review newspaper says that would be about 5 tons of aluminum, worth about $3,800 when recycled.

Parrish and Geyer hope to meet their goal by their planned July 31 wedding.

They set up a Web site to explain their plan at weddingcans.com.

I'm guessing if these people are only 5% done with their goal of collecting cans to pay for a wedding that they'll probably tie the know some time in 2017. If the Mayans are right we'll all be dead by then. Not to mention having that many cans in their house will become an obstacle. One of them might step on a rusty can, get tetnis and die. But look at it this way, if they do make it too the finish line they'll already have the cans to tie to the back of the car.

But why am I standing away in the way of their love. Tell you what lovebirds. I'll start collecting all my beer cans and you can drive down to the Back Yard and pick them up. At the rate I'm drinking you should be tying the knot by early spring.

  4. For us ladies, we are dreaming a very memorable wedding ever. We're not asking for a million prize wedding, simple is enough but the moment and the special thought was there it was just enough.
    Thank you for sharing!

  5. Marriage is a holy ceremony where two persons become one. That is a great idea to collect cans so they can use it as a fund for their marriage. In that way, they can earn mo0ney and the same time can recycle.
